MEET THE TEAM

David Brooks, Ph.D. holds degrees in Psychology and Philosophy (University of Alabama), English (Auburn University), Early Modern European History (Auburn University), Secondary Education (University of Montevallo), and earned a Ph.D. in Latin American History (Auburn University). While earning these degrees, he simultaneously worked  as a school teacher and a chess coach. In 2007, once his one-chess-tactic-per-week system became wildly popular with the local elementary schools which fed into his high school, Dr. Brooks retired from teaching and became a full-time chess coach. In 2015, Dr. Brooks commissioned Coach Ed to launch The Knight School - Austin using the system he had perfected over the past decade, and The Knight School America has been rapidly expanding ever since then. Today The Knight School brings chess to thousands of students each week, and our fantastic new approach is revolutionizing chess across the nation.
