Completing the Perfect Adulthood
I am David Brooks, Ph.D., Director of The Knight School, and I am preparing to announce a very exciting part-time job opportunity. Not only does this job pay very well, starting at 35 dollars per one and a half--hour session, but it offers an amazingly enjoyable working environment--inside your city's best elementary schools, right after school, teaching chess to little kids. And amazingly,

My system basically hands a pre-formatted laptop and equipment pack to very fun college students and they go into five local schools and teach chess to eager little kids right in the school libraries. My "Coaches" actually do not need to know anything at all about chess; what they need to be is great with kids and able to run a class of 15 chess players from 2:50-4:15 every weekday. And they need to be completelely dependable as little children will be waiting to be taken care of and entertained!

This job opportunity is really a good one for the person with the right combination of qualities. My nine employees last year loved the job so much that in May as a thank-you they surprised my wife and me with a gift certificate to a local restaurant and they all babysat our three kids! My employees love the high pay, love the short hours, and love the independence of being in charge of a classroom within an excellent local elementary school.

And the after-college opportunities for my coaches that have proven themselves excellent are nothing short of staggering: four of my current coaches will move this fall to Nashville, Dallas, Austin, and Baton Rouge and will initiate brand-new The Knight School chapters, and as District Coaches they will receive $30 of each $80 monthly tuition; since they know how to be fun and to blow classes up to over 20 kids per chess class, five days per week, these Coaches will be making staggering salaries of around $215 per hour for a very short and very fun workday! And my coaches are keenly aware that since they have the option to build up their districts as I have done in Birmingham by hiring other college students, the profitability of these chess classes could increase another tenfold and my coaches might never have to grow and and get a job after all! They are excited to see how far their own initiative will take them.

Post-college career opportunities, high pay, an ideal work environment are not the only benefits. My non-chess-playing coaches very soon become chess experts as they watch the amazing pre-formatted lessons which are virally amazing at teaching kindergarteners to destroy their friends in chess! "Chess Coach" is also a great piece of work experience to add to a resume, and coaching the kids of the most affluent and influential parents in the city often yields exposure to the parents who are the exact people who are in positions to help my coaches find post-graduation employment. Sometimes my students even secure student teaching assignments within the same school where they coach chess. As you might imagine, I am extremely selective and systematic about background checks and references as any principal is with the young people entrusted to them. Interested? Email me.
